St. Petersburg, June 10th, 2010. E-mails continue to come to the address of the competition for the best lyrics to the vocalise «Trololo». Participants from the four corners of the earth are writing about home, love, peace and happiness.

At once three far-out letters have come to the Competition mailbox. The first letter is from Tatyana Zharenova who is from the city of Ivanono, the other is Kiever Tatyana Belyaeva’s one, and the third has been sent by Anatoly Olefir from the town of Orsk, Orenburg Oblast.

Tatyana Zharenova mentions that «her childhood was accompanied by songs of Eduard Khil». And thereby hangs a tale about the «Vocalise». Here is the extract from Tatyana’s letter, addressed to Mr. Eduard Khil.

«Once you were performing the «Vocalise» in a concert. Listening to its tune my mother always fancied herself going home, seeing saw her house on the hill in a distance. There is a feeling of joy and happiness in an every sound of this song! At that concert my mother dropped you a note with the name to the song – «I'm Going Home». And in subsequent broadcasts the vocalise was tagged with this name. Such a «co-authorship» gave my mother a shock of joy, drew happy tears from her – because your feelings of the song agreed with hers. This song has become our dear, good legend».

Tatyana has also sent lyrics to the tune:

How happy I am returning to mummy!
Your motherland is in your heart forever.
How sweet is every moment here, every look, good friends!
Murmur of a brook, blossom of a bird cherry – this is my Motherland!

Anew I get a move on meeting my childhood,
Oh, how I long for my motherland! There is my sweet home,
Star showers at clear nights, a cherry-tree by the window.

Tatyana Belyaeva, from Kiev, turned out to be not only a gifted poet but also a mother of three kids, a teacher of musical development for children from their birth to the age of seven.

«A «Trololo» phenomenon in the Internet made me very happy, it is a miracle indeed! Once I got to know about it I immediately switched on this song, my children and husband to listen to (my husband is also a musician, guitarist and composer). We were really in ecstasy over the song, how marvellously it is composed and performed, how it inspires you with a good mood», – Tatyana writes in her letter.

She also sent her variant of lyrics to this tune. Her idea of «Mr. Trololo» is that he is an astronaut who returns to the Earth after circumnavigating the Galaxy. Having seen different worlds then he dreams of the only thing: people on the Earth should join their hands, love each other, play and laugh like kids. And he is singing to his children who have come to welcome him:

Children of the Earth,
Raise your hands,
All of us are born to love,
We are never cast down.

Come and favour me with your smile,
Here is my hand!
I will gift you wit a sunrise and sunset,
With the clear sky

Anatoly Olefir, from Orenburg Oblast sent two variants of lyrics at once. In his letter Mr. Olefir showed confidence in «if this song sounds all over the world then, I hope, the world will get better».

Winds were pushing me in the back,
Rains were falling aslant.
I did not look for the answer,
All are transitory in this world.

Tro-lo-lo-lo-lo…

One day followed another,
Seemingly were not living.
The avenue was shining with lights,
But the bullet for me had been already cast.

Let us add that the song «I Am Glad I'm Finally Going Home» was written 44 years ago. Its “second birth” it got quite recently, by the Internet. It was popularized by foreign web sites as a modern hit by Mr. Trololo. From that time many admirers of Eduard Khil’s creative work addressed to him with a question where to get the lyrics to the song.

«It does not have any lyrics. It is simply a song of good mood, when I’m singing it I imagine Figaro – a light-hearted, frolic guy”. May be it is the song’s heartfulness that is to liking of many. And a great idea once leaped to my mind: why not to write lyrics to its tune all together?».

The Baltic Information Agency decided to help the singer realize his idea. From June 1st everybody can send his own lyrics the tune of Vocalise” to e-mail trololo@baltinfo.ru.

The Competition is being held in the only nomination group – a stanza of lyrics to the tune of «Vocalise» by Arkady Ostrovsky. The subject of a stanza is at its author’s choosing, reflecting his own view of life. The Competition is all-comers, irrespective of age and nationality. Stanzas written either by a single author or by a group of authors are receivable, co-authorship is allowed.

Criteria for judging lyrics submitted are original creative approach in the treatment of the subject, choice of the plot, literary style and a rhythmic fit between the stanza and the tune.

The best stanzas, written in various languages of the world, will be combined to form a common song, a unique «Anthem of Planet Earth».
